Jack is the Pumpkin King, a legal authority, and town hero. Oogie generally plays nice because he knows that Jack can put him in prison. That's why I think they're at odds. WebIn Christmas land, most of the residents are elves, and their job is to make toys and help Santa, and then Santa's job is of course to deliver presents. The residents of Halloween town have the job of scaring people, they even say so in the first song in the movie, "life's no fun without a good scare. That's our job but we're not mean..."
