WebCottonwood Creek – Area Recreation. The campground is located on Highway 89 about 4 miles south of Sierraville. This location makes a great “base camp” for activities like fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Lake Tahoe is also located about 40 miles south of the campground. WebCottonwood Lake SRA offers Basic and Primitive campsites. There are 30 Basic campsites, all of which are located along the shoreline and near mature trees. Water and primitive toilets are available to campers. A water hydrant is available from May 1 through Oct. 1. There is no dump and fill station.
